Courier-imap

courier-imap is an IMAP and POP3 server developed by Sam Varshavchik. It is actually just the IMAP/POP3 server portion of a larger program called the Courier Mail Server (http://www.courier-mta.org/). Several other portions of Courier are available as separate programs, specifically the mail filtering engine, the webmail interface, and now the authentication libraries.

Early versions of the program (before version 4.0) included an entire library of authentication functions in the program, however it became easier and made more sense to split these authentication functions out into a separate package. This package is called courier-authlib. Anybody who is installing a recent version of courier-imap or sqwebmail needs to have the courier-authlib package installed first.
