Spam is described as any type of email that contains nothing but advertisements, it is junk mail that is unsolicited and considered to be a nuisance by practically anyone who has been the recipient of it. If you want to have the best chance of reducing your spam to zero, you can configure the settings to send everything to the junk mail folder and then go in as approve only the emails from safe addresses to be sent to your inbox.

Once you have taken the time to set up the software properly and use it in conjunction with the anti spam software provided by your email client you will notice a significant drop in the amount of spam that actually makes it into your email box. One thing to remember is that spammers are constantly changing the way the plan their return email address, so chances are that you are going to have to go back in to your settings from time to time and make changes to keep these new spam emails going into the junk email box. You may never completely get rid of spam but Spam Assassin will get you as close as possible.
